photosTipicos LetyTodos Santos truly is special. Indeed when Hollywood came to Guatemala looking for a remote and colorful location, Todos Santos was their choice. The grand finale of "The Juror" (1996) was filmed in Todos Santos.
While the movie made Sony Pictures a lot of money; deep and meaningful it was not. Truth be told, it was dreck, but Demi Moore did bring her considerable assets to bear (without actually baring them) and Alec Baldwin played a great bad guy. Truth be told, I found watching Hollywood's depiction of Todos Santos somewhat irritating. I realize Hollywood sells fantasy but the real Todos Santos doesn't need glitz to be spectacular. Still, just as bad press is better than no press, it's pretty cool to see villagers from Todos Santos in a big Hollywood blockbuster. ... but if you could just see the real thing! Juan Pablo and I went to Todos Santos to take pictures on a cold and rainy day in what should have been the beginning of the dry season. Just getting there was no mean feat, and once there, the lack of light made protography problematic. Still in the end I think all the muck and haze, and even the low light helped me photograph Todos Santos without a hint of glitz, and I hope all the more beautiful for it. >>> start slide showThe following photographs were taken on Jan. 14, 2006 between 3:00 and 4:15p.m. |
